What is open forge?
India has launched a platform for open collaboration and development of e-governance applications known as an OpenForge.It aims at sharing and reuse of e-governance related source data code through this platform and also provides open-source software as a means of use for current and future purposes.

Models are available under the open forge network
- Government to government model where the project can only be created by the government agencies and members of the government in a controlled way. Entry and access to government entities are allowed and this project works on an approval basis.
- Government to community model where a collaborative experience between the government agencies and citizens and private institutions takes place. Depending upon the approval of project administrators, anyone and everyone can participate in the operations and contribute to the source code development collaboratively. The details of the project axis are subjective to the administrative discretion and may vary from project to project.
