On the path to progress, India came up with a social security number system that aims to offer benefits to people all around the nation. Aadhaar essentially is a 12-digit number that is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to residents of India. In order to get a number, you have to ideally complete several checks and data validations.
Applying for the Aadhaar card, however, is absolutely free.
Enrolling for Aadhaar Online

- Visit the UIDAI website and download the Aadhaar enrollment form. You are suggested to take a printout of the same for future reference
- Fill out the form with relevant information
- Visit the nearest Aadhaar enrollment centre with the filled form and necessary documents

- Once all the essential processes are done, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt

All you have to do here is enter your Enrolment ID or EID in order to check your status, in case you have enrolled for it from an Enrolment centre.
Your EID can be found on the top of the acknowledgement slip you received after enrolment.
EID basically is a 28-digit number comprising of two main parts:
- 14-digit enrolment number in the format 012/01234/012345
- 14-digit date and time of enrolment in the format dd/mm/yyyy HH:MM: SS
In order to check the status, only a 14-digit enrolment number is enough. Providing the remaining number is optional.
Updating Information in Aadhar card
You can update or correct any details in the Aadhar card by visiting an Aadhar enrolment centre and/or Aadhar Seva Kendra. The details can include the name, address, gender, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, photo, iris scan and fingerprint. However, not all details can be updated online. For example, updating or registering a mobile number or correcting the spelling of your name, gender and date of birth cannot be done online.
Your address on the other hand can be updated very easily online through the UIDAI website.
Updating your Address online
You can update your address on your Aadhar card in two ways online. One is by visiting the Aadhar Seva Kendra or the Aadhar enrolment centre. The other is by updating it online by going to the UIDAI website. You can also update your address if you do not have proof.

यदि आपने किसी नामांकन केंद्र से इसके लिए नामांकन किया है, तो आपको अपनी स्थिति की जांच करने के लिए यहां केवल अपना नामांकन आईडी या ईआईडी दर्ज करना है।
आपका ईआईडी नामांकन के बाद प्राप्त पावती पर्ची के शीर्ष पर पाया जा सकता है।
ईआईडी मूल रूप से एक 28-अंकीय संख्या है जिसमें दो मुख्य भाग होते हैं:
- 012/01234/012345 प्रारूप में 14 अंकों की नामांकन संख्या
- दिनांक dd/mm/yyyy HH:MM प्रारूप में नामांकन की 14-अंकीय तिथि और समय : एसएस

आप अपने आधार कार्ड पर अपना पता ऑनलाइन दो तरह से अपडेट कर सकते हैं। एक आधार सेवा केंद्र या आधार नामांकन केंद्र पर जाकर है। दूसरा है यूआईडीएआई की वेबसाइट पर जाकर इसे ऑनलाइन अपडेट करना। अगर आपके पास सबूत नहीं है तो आप अपना पता भी अपडेट कर सकते हैं।
